In March 2005, 70% of online search in France has been done through Google1. Like in the rest of Europe, in France Google.fr is the main search engine used to find information online. Other regional search engines such as Voilà are fighting to keep their small market share. In France and in Europe Yahoo is not yet as used as it is in the USA.

According to Overture France2, in 2004 57% of search done through French search engines are aimed towards buying intentions. It is important to notice that French people are looking for their information in their native language in 94% of the time and are not attracted by any English adds.
